Evaluating the GT NSF RED Project: Revolutionizing Engineering Education

Evaluation Lead: Julia Melkers

Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) programs across the nation struggle with retention of students, which stems from a number of issues. The objective of the Georgia Tech RED grant (“Adapting and Implementing Interactive Problem-Driven Learning, Professional and Computational Skills Development for Early and Vertically-Integrated Engagement”) is to develop an effective and scalable model to revolutionize CEE education through early and vertically integrated engagement. Through curricular and other changes, the project will develop and implement an approach to engage students early and on a continuing basis in Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) programs.

The ROCS Lab team is leading the evaluation of these efforts, including a broader examination of the culture for inclusion and retention in CEE.
